A family-run homestay in Barzulla
Maskan is the Kashmiri word for home. It is also the name we gave a small building in Barzulla, Srinagar, where fully independent apartments share an address but never a wall, a kitchen, or a front door. This page is the longer story behind it.
Maskan, the building
One building in Barzulla with independent apartments — studios up to a 2BHK that sleeps six. Each has its own front door, own kitchen, own bathroom — no shared spaces. RFID gate, CCTV, inverter backup, fast Wi-Fi, parking off the main road.
On-site hosting
We live right next door — not a property management company in another city. Someone is around when the gas runs out at 9pm, or a guest needs a homemade Kashmiri breakfast, an honest taxi driver, or a tip on which Mughal garden is least crowded on a Sunday.
Sabiya, on the ground
Sabiya grew up in Srinagar, lives right next door to the apartments, and has been hosting at Maskan since 2025. WhatsApp her and she usually replies within the hour.
She knows which neighbour bakes the best tsot, which taxi to avoid, and how to drop a hot breakfast at your door before you're fully awake.
Barzulla, our neighbourhood
A quiet residential pocket on the south side of Srinagar — not a tourist district. Maskan sits in Friends Colony, a short walk from Barzulla Chowk. Boulevard and Dal Lake are a 15-minute drive, Lal Chowk is closer.
